Black Stars

In Sub-Saharan Africa there are huge gender disparities in education. In Ghana, young girls are often forced to work in pineapple plantations, by the road selling palm oil or worse - prostitution. In 2003, in response to high rates of child labor and sexual exploitation among girls, FAWE Ghana established an all-girls school north of the capital Accra. The Ghanaian national football team aside, these girls are Ghana's real black stars.
